SILK is intended to create an atmosphere that allows for the safe exploration of BDSM and various kinks and fetishes without fear, shame and guilt.
SILK is committed to helping the community grow in a safe manner, coming from a position of learning and openness.
SILK prioritizes and demands confidentiality. We do not allow “outing” of anyone in our community.
SILK respects feedback given and takes it with gratitude as the hope is that feedback is offered with a desire to create an intentional and supportive space and make things better. We acknowledge that this is a constantly changing process as we find our footing, and we are committed to learning and changing to fit the community's needs.
SILK expects that all attendees and leadership will communicate with Assumed Positive Intent.
SILK will not gender police. Entrance into our space is based on self identification. It is our hope that men will self-select out and respect that SILK LA is not a space for them. Should someone make attendees at any SILK event feel uncomfortable, they will be asked to leave.
The consequences for not honoring our community agreement will mean that you may be asked to leave the space and may be excluded from future events. Should harm occur within any SILK space, efforts will be made to have an open and sincere conversation with the affected person(s). Part of this will include asking them to name the harm, what remedies they feel will make them whole, and whether they feel including the person who caused harm to take a part in this process will help them. Harm brought to our attention will be addressed with all parties involved.
SILK strives to maintain a high bar when it comes to accountability and ethical responsibility. This is demonstrated through honesty, integrity, transparency and ownership of action. Walking a Leather path means accountability and integrity demonstrated by meaningful and impactful change, even when its uncomfortable.
